James ‘Mojez’ Oyange is a former TikTok content moderator and whistleblower who exposed the harsh realities of moderation work. Now a certified Data Protection Officer, he advocates for ethical AI development and the rights of content moderators and data workers in Africa, pushing for fair treatment, pay transparency, and stronger worker protections. He also founded Data Safety Alliance - an organization that empower platform workers with the knowledge and tools to reclaim their personal data, negotiate fair compensation, and hold AI companies accountable for ethical data usage. He’s also part of the steering committee for Africa Tech Workers Movement - a Pan-African movement of tech and platform workers fighting for fair labour practices across the region.
